First Aid is the provision of initial care for an illness or injury. It is usually performed by non-expert, but trained personnel for a sick or injured person until definitive medical treatment can be accessed. Certain self-limiting illnesses or minor injuries may not require further medical care past the First Aid intervention. It generally consists of a series of simple and in some cases, potentially life-saving techniques that an individual can be trained to perform with minimal equipment.
First Aid for the work place in Ireland is governed by the Health and Safety Authority. The HSA will dictate the level of training required by your employees and the number that need to receive this training. Organisations must comply with the law that requires a certain number of employees to be First Aid certified.
Alpha Training can provide the level of First Aid Training required by your organisation. All our trainers are on the Health and Safety Authorities register of qualified instructors and all our courses have a large emphasis on practical work.
